Beautiful agricultural landscape of Toraja at Batutumonga
Lat. 2°54'35.2"S | Long. 119°52'30.1"E
Batutumonga is a perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee while pondering a vast distance of rice fields. Its elevated location makes it a suitable place to enjoy the sunrise and refreshing mist that falls in exchange for rising warmer air. Agriculture is still the main occupation in Toraja despite an increasing number of young people moving to Makassar, Papua, or even neighboring countries to seek alternative jobs. When the rice planting period starts, light green color dominates the region like a carpet that masks everything. Meanwhile, during the rice cultivation period, the region basks in the golden color of rice husks.
